Why does my black screen look grey?+
Almost always the panel, not the page. LCDs pass some backlight through even at full black, so 'black' renders as very dark grey — that is the panel's contrast ratio at work. OLED, mini-LED and plasma panels get genuinely closer to zero. Ambient light bouncing off the glass also lifts perceived black, so judge it in a dark room.
Can a black screen fix backlight bleed?+
No — it reveals it. Bleed is a physical assembly issue where light escapes around the panel edge. A black screen is the diagnostic, not the cure. If a new monitor shows heavy bleed, that is usually grounds for a return or exchange.
How do I make the black screen fill my whole display?+
Press F (or click the fullscreen button) to enter true browser fullscreen, which hides the tab bar, address bar and taskbar. Press Escape to leave. On mobile, tapping the screen hides the controls; add the page to your home screen for a fullscreen launch every time.
