Frequently asked questions
Where should the light sit?+
Slightly above eye level and just off to one side of your camera — roughly 15 to 30 degrees. Dead-on is flat but forgiving; a slight angle keeps some shape in the face. Below eye level gives you the horror-movie uplight.
Why do I still look washed out?+
Almost always the panel is too close, or your camera has auto-exposure locked on the bright light rather than on you. Move the screen back a foot, or dial the brightness down until your face is bright but not blown out.
