Frequently asked questions
Why green and not blue for chroma key?+
Camera sensors devote about half their photosites to green, so a green key has the most clean data and the least noise. Green also almost never appears in skin tones. Blue is still preferred when the subject wears green, or for night scenes where green spill would look wrong.
Can I really key against a monitor?+
For small subjects, yes, but watch two things: the panel is a light source, so it will spill green onto your subject more than fabric would, and a camera pointed at a screen can pick up moiré or refresh banding. Lower shutter angles and a slight defocus help.
How do I make the green screen fill my whole display?+
Press F (or click the fullscreen button) to enter true browser fullscreen, which hides the tab bar, address bar and taskbar. Press Escape to leave. On mobile, tapping the screen hides the controls; add the page to your home screen for a fullscreen launch every time.
