Fake Hacker Screen: Type Any Key to Start Hacking
A fake hacker screen is the classic movie terminal: green (or white) text scrolling across a dark field, faster the harder you type. This white screen hacker tool is pure theatre — the characters come from a script bundled with the page and nothing is connected to anything. It looks exactly like what films have trained everyone to expect hacking to look like, and it runs entirely in your browser.
What people use the hacker screen for
Look busy and dangerous
Mash any keys and code appears at a plausible rate. The effect is entirely convincing to anyone standing more than four feet away — the classic fake hacking screen gag.
Film and photo prop
A ready-made fake hacker screen for a short film, a stream overlay, a stock photo or a school project, without needing to fake a terminal in post.
Party trick and prank
Leave it running on a screen. It reliably makes someone ask what you are doing.
Desk diversion
Fullscreen it before someone walks past. Want a longer bit? Follow it with a fake Ubuntu update screen, a fake Chromebook update or a fake Windows 10 update, or finish on a fake cracked screen or a fake blue screen of death. Want the victim's side? Try the fake hacked screen, or switch to a fake Windows update screen.
How to use the fake hacker screen
Open the page and press F to go full screen. Then type. Any key works: each keypress pushes out the next few lines of terminal-style text, so the faster you type, the faster the code pours. Nothing you type matters, only the rhythm.
Open Options to change the look. You can switch the text colour between green, amber, white and cyan, and turn the speed up or down so each keypress prints more or less. Press H to hide the controls for a clean screen. If you want the effect on a second monitor or a TV, use Second screen to open it in its own window. The arrow keys ← and → jump to other screens, such as the fake update pages, if you want a longer prank.
On a phone or tablet, go full screen if your browser allows it and tap the on-screen keyboard; a physical keyboard looks more convincing. When you are done, press Escape to leave full screen and close the tab.
The text comes from a script built into the page. Nothing is hacked, connected or installed, and it is free with no sign-up.
What a fake hacker screen actually does
Nothing networked, nothing installed, nothing changed on your machine. Each keypress advances a local script of terminal-looking text so the pace matches how hard you type. Close the tab and the white screen hacker effect is gone — same as any other page on this site.
Hacker screen vs Matrix rain
The Matrix screensaver drops columns of characters on its own. This fake hacking simulator waits for you: you type, it pours. Use the Matrix page for ambient set dressing; use the hacker screen when you want the interactive “I am clearly doing something illicit” performance.
Frequently asked questions
Is anything actually being hacked?+
No. The page prints text from a fixed script as you type. It doesn't connect to anything or touch your device.
Can I make it a white screen hacker?+
Yes. Choose White in Options for white text. The background stays dark, like a real terminal.
What is a white screen hacker / fake hacker screen?+
A browser page that looks like a hacking terminal — usually dark background, scrolling code, keys making text pour out. “White screen hacker” is how people find this tool: a full-screen fake hacker screen that runs on White Screen Studio with no install.
Is it safe to run at work?+
The page is harmless. Whether your colleagues find a scrolling hacking terminal on your monitor amusing is a separate question and we cannot help you there.
Does it work on a Chromebook, phone or tablet?+
Yes, in any modern browser. Tap to type on touch screens.
How do I make it fill the screen?+
Press F, or use the Fullscreen button. Escape exits.
Do I need to download anything?+
No. It runs in your browser tab, free, with no account.
