Fake Hacked Screen Prank
This is the other side of the hacker movie: the screen of the person who's just been "hacked". It fills the display with a fake terminal that makes it look like someone has taken over the computer. It's only a picture drawn in your browser tab. It doesn't read, change or delete any files, it doesn't connect to anything on the network, and closing the tab ends it.
What people use the fake hacked screen for
A quick, harmless prank
Leave it on a friend's screen and wait for the double-take.
Film and video props
A "you've been hacked" moment for a short film, a sketch or a stream, without faking it in editing.
A pairing with the hacker screen
Run the hacker screen on your laptop as the "attacker" and this one on another screen as the "victim".
How to use the fake hacked screen
- 1Open the page on the computer you want to prank.
- 2Press F or use the Fullscreen button so it fills the screen. The screen stays awake while it runs.
- 3Press H to hide the controls. A small exit hint stays on screen so anyone can get out.
- 4Step back and wait.
- 5Press Esc to exit full screen, then close the tab. Nothing is left behind.
Keep it friendly
Pick someone who'll laugh, stay close by, and show them it's a prank straight away. Don't use it to scare anyone into doing something, and skip it on a computer someone needs for urgent work. For a different gag, try the fake Windows update screen, a fake cracked screen or a fake blue screen of death.
Frequently asked questions
Is this safe? Does it do anything to my device?+
It's safe. The page only draws a fake terminal in your browser. It doesn't touch your files, settings or network, and nothing is installed.
How do I exit?+
Follow the exit hint on screen, or press Esc to leave full screen and close the tab.
How is it different from the hacker screen?+
The hacker screen makes you look like the hacker: you type and code pours out. The fake hacked screen shows the victim's view, a computer that looks like it's been taken over.
Any tips for pulling it off?+
Go full screen first so no browser bar shows, hide the controls, and pick a moment when the person isn't watching you set it up. Then let them in on the joke quickly.
